Plan Maui's Energy Future

Despite progress in renewable energy, Maui Electric still relies on fossil fuels for nearly 50% of its energy production, contributing to greenhouse gas emissions and environmental concerns. This reliance underscores the urgent need for a faster transition to 100% renewable energy.

MCEA MEETINGS

Every Second Friday of the Month at 9am on Zoom – Join us for a public meeting to discuss Maui’s energy future!

WHO WE ARE

The group was formed in November 2023, when the Teran James Young Foundation, who had started the Maui Co-op Committee to look into forming an energy co-op similar to the KUIC, found out that other groups were also working on solutions to help Maui residents take control of their energy system. These sustainability and energy advocates and community members are dedicated to finding a better solution to our current energy system with Maui’s Energy Future.
